i’m buying books. Suggestions please?
i have to even out a balance to receive free shipping, haha.
i want something worth reading, so that at the end i won’t be like “that was a waste of time,” and since i’m buying it i want to be able to read it again and again.
i like good, intricate stories and books that focus on style in addition to plot. i also like non-fiction. i don’t like books where you can skip a bit and still not miss anything. but even if they’re well-written, they can’t be really fucking difficult, i.e. Pride and Prejudice or Anna Karenina.
i love:
-Dracula
-Harry Potter
-Angus, Thongs, etc.
-Edgar Allen Poe
i hate stories that try to be smart/deep but suck at it, and i hate cheap stories.
i hate:
-A Great and Terrible Beauty
-Twilight
-Jackie Collins
after all that, what would you recommend? or jsut throw out anything you’ve read and liked
try an author by the name of T.C. Boyle. he has some collections of short stories that are quite worthwhile. all of his novels are “owners”. I read some of the potter novels as a youth and enjoyed them.
good luck
