Piano Garden Method Text Book Format

One of the many benefits to the Piano Garden Method is its layout. It’s designed to be a fun and easy to follow instruction manual that teaches basic piano playing principals from beginner to intermediate levels. Its purpose is to keep students interested in playing so they can learn the basic concepts without becoming overwhelmed or frustrated. Using this method, one need only have the desire to learn and the rest of the work is made simple.

Perhaps the best quality of the product is that it’s done in text book format. This style has already been tested throughout the years with school aged children. Concepts they learn in school in any subject are taught from a textbook. Chapters are kept to similar ideas and the goals is to have a student gain a firm understanding of those ideas before moving on to the next chapter. This Piano Garden Method employs the same type of teaching. It helps students to see the content broken down into bite sized chunks to minimize the feeling of being overwhelmed and help them focus on one skill at a time.

When the first concept is mastered, the student will move on to chapter two and discover the new concepts there. The old concepts will still be interwoven throughout the material so that they aren’t being forgotten right after they are learned. Since practicing the basics is the key to being good at anything, this style ensures that students have plenty of time to do so. It also takes the boredom out of repeating the basics all the time. While this is still encouraged, the basic principals are still reviewed throughout the course while newer concepts are being learned. This style also serves to illustrate why it’s important to understand and review basics, since they are the foundation of everything the student will play.
