also can kindel books be bought for nook

You can get quite a few from BN by typing 0.00 into the search. They have over 1.8 million free titles. Not all of them are great, but I’d found plenty I liked.
Look into digital libraries, my state has one see if your’s does.
Nook will read anything in an epub, pdf, or pdb file so just do a search for Free Ebooks in those formats.
