Can you put Ebooks already downloaded from your computer to the Sony E-reader daily edition?

I have 100+ books downloaded onto my computer and I am looking to get an ereader for myself. I can’t find a straight answer about this anywhere. I want to put these PDF files I have saved on my harddrive onto the Sony Daily Edition E-reader. Is this at all possible? or do I have to convert them into another form? I don’t want to rebuy them through the ereader itself. I just want to transfer these files.
